"In subject architecture, Latin America is no longer peripheral; on the contrary, it is at the center of our thinking". lecture This was stated by Full Professor of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, José María Ezquiaga, who delivered the inaugural address at the II Biennial of Latin American Architecture of the University of Navarra.

In this line, the expert assured that "the references and ways of proceeding in architecture are no longer foreign to America, but are found within these countries". He also wanted to highlight three aspects that, in his opinion, "are well represented in this meeting: cosmopolitanism, contemporaneity and talent or systems of work".

The conference room de Armas of the Citadel hosted the presentation of this event that, until April 8, will showcase the contemporary panorama of architecture in Latin America, turning Pamplona into reference letter cultural and point of meeting and approximation of Spain with the five participating countries: Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.

The initiative is promoted by the group of research AS20 of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra together with the Pamplona City Council, the Mancomunidad de la Comarca de Pamplona and the Navarre delegation of the high school of Basque-Navarre Architects.

In addition, the three exhibitions organized for conference were inaugurated, one of which focuses on the architecture of Chile, the Biennial's guest country. A concert "Homage to Chile" was also held at position by the chamber music group group formed by Alicia Griffiths, Daniel García and Beatriz Pomés.

Authorities with architecture

The event was attended by José Ramón Moreno, coordinator of the Ibero-American Biennial of architecture and urbanism of the Ministry of Development, who said that "this celebration is a refreshing look at architecture". Also present were Juan Ramón Corpas, Minister of Culture of the Government of Navarra, who invited the new generations of architects "to humanize the world"; and the Mayor of Pamplona, Yolanda Barcina, who expressed her wish that "the city will be impregnated with everything that will be discussed during these days at the Citadel and the University of Navarra".

Friederic Heller, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Chile in Spain, and Juan Miguel Otxotorena, President of the Biennial's board of trustees and professor at School of Architecture, closed the speeches.
Throughout these days, Ignacio Vicens, Teodoro Fernández Larrañaga, José Ramón Moreno, Rosanna Forray, Salvador Rueda, Javier Torrens and Fernando Pérez de Oyarzun will give lectures and participate in various round tables.
