The University is a member of the first international alliance of Schools of Medicine.

The academic center, the only one in Spain, thus joins the list of universities that will collaborate in the exchange of students and academic staff

The School of Medicine of the University of Navarra has been admitted as a member of plenary session of the Executive Council right in Global Health Learning Opportunities (GHLO), the first international alliance of Schools of Medicine. This network, directly promoted by the Americanassociation of Schools of Medicine (AAMC), brings together leading universities from five continents.

goal The first objective of the new alliance is tocreate an international network of partnership among its members, which will facilitate the exchange of medical students for clinical rotations in hospitals. The platform also intends to enable its members to extend their partnership to other areas, such as: the exchange of academic staff, the co-organization of courses and the joint research .

To facilitate the work at network between each and every one of the Schools, GHLO has made available to its members an innovative software accessible from the Internet that allows the creation of virtual groups of work and discussion, the publication, management and follow-up of all exchange requests, both entrance and outgoing, as well as the dissemination of news or relevant events of each University. In addition, GHLO holds its world convention every year, at the framework of the annual congress of the AAMC, to facilitate direct knowledge between the respective directors of International Office.

Plan of internationalization

The incorporation to GHLO is part of the internationalization plan undertaken by the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra for the period 2013-2016, which also includes other initiatives such as: the organization of Admissions Office exams in New York City, the counseling and preparation of students who wish to do the specialization program in other countries and the increase of the mandatory teaching and elective subject taught in English.

The reception for the Schools joining GHLO took place at the framework of the congress of the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges), held last November in Philadelphia, and attended by Dr. Secundino Fernández, Associate Dean of the School, and José María Gutiérrez de Cabiedes, director of development. At this congress the attendees exchanged experiences on new developments in medical Education , new simulation techniques, employment opportunities abroad or global inter-university cooperation
