Two students from the University of Navarra among the winners in the essay contest for Pharmacy students
The second and third award were for Pablo Urdiales and María González Bueno.
Pablo Urdiales (4th year of Pharmacy) and María González Bueno (4th year of Pharmacy) have been the winners of the second and third award of the essay Contest for Pharmacy students organized by the association Spanish Social Pharmacy (AEFAS), in partnership with the Spanish Federation of Pharmacy Students (FEEF) and Correo Farmacéutico.
The slogan chosen for the VI Edition of these awards was "The pharmacist and palliative care". Pablo Urdiales and María González Bueno have responded to this slogan with essays entitled: "The P.C.U. as the future of pharmacists" and "I want to start being seen as what I really am".
Pablo in his essay captures "different pharmacists' views on palliative care and the role of the pharmacy professional in it". "I concluded that knowledge in this area is vital and that the presence of the pharmacist would be beneficial for the specialization program as he can provide the vision as a specialist in the drug," he says.
For her part, Maria, after the experience of the competition, says that "it has been a unique opportunity to learn more about the reality that lies behind this health area ". In her essay she analyzes the limited presence of pharmacists in Palliative Care and affirms that "patients are in very difficult circumstances and unfortunately the margin of action that we specialists have is very small". However, he concludes that "the pharmacist's responsibility in this area has a added value and complementary to that of other specialists".
