Laura Romeo is a second year student of Degree in attendance Management Assistant. During the course she combines her programs of study with the volunteer activities that she carries out in the NGO 'Adopt a Grandparent', whose purpose is to keep company in residences to elderly people who feel lonely.
A project that, as he explains, "aims to fight against social exclusion, increase the socialization of the elderly and pay tribute to the figure of the elderly, since they are teachers of life". It also pursues "a transfer of knowledge to new generations, bringing young and old together for a better coexistence".
He explains that with the status of confinement that has generated the COVID -19 "there are many elderly people who live alone and feel sad not being able to go out or be with anyone, for this reason the association is promoting a new initiative: it's called 'Minutes in company'. The goal is that the elderly who are isolated during confinement do not feel lonely. To this end, volunteers answer the calls of these elderly people and talk to them to help them cope better with this status". After this experience, Laura encourages all students to participate and invest their time with "our elders".
