ISSA - School of Management Assistants students organize the graduation ceremony of the different Schools of the University.
They have been able to apply the knowledge acquired in the subject of Public Relations and protocol
In line with the service-learning methodology implemented at the University, which combines teaching with the promotion of the social commitment of student, third year students of ISSA - School of Management Assistants have collaborated in the organization of the graduation ceremonies of the different Schools.
With the goal to develop professional and social skills through service, they have met the needs of these centers by putting on internship the knowledge acquired in the subject of "Public Relations and protocol", such as work teamwork, decision making or planning skills.
Supervised by a professional of the graduation team, who has acted as tutor, our students have carried out the tasks of management and have participated in the coordination meetings of the graduations, which they will attend as part of the organization team.
Anne Berasategui (ISSA '19) and Julen Moreno (ISSA '19) are two of these students and this has been their experience:
Anne Berasategui, team member of organization of the graduation ceremony of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
1.- How has your experience been?
Very interesting, I have learned a lot. The PAS team (staff of Administration and Services) has been very attentive to help me in everything, always ready to solve any doubt and with flexibility so that I could fulfill the internship hours without affecting my programs of study. They have treated me as if I were one of the team.
2.- What role have you played?
I have had to carry out different tasks: structure a schedule, make a schedule of arrangements, update the documents used for the previous years' graduations and look for improvements, prepare invitations and letters for parents, make personalized mailings, etc.
3.- Do you think that initiatives like this are positive for a Management Assistant student? Why?
They are a good way to put on internship the theoretical knowledge acquired in the Degree: Public Relations, Information Technology, Oral and Written Communication, Documentation, Human Resources or protocol. Everything learned has been necessary for the efficient and orderly organization of this event.
Julen Moreno, team member organization graduation ceremony of ISSA - School of Management Assistants
1.- How has your experience been?
It has been a very positive experience, because it has helped me to put in internship knowledge that we acquired along the degree program. In addition, I have felt very comfortable: whenever I had any doubts, Marijo Razkin (ISSA '90), from the PAS team (staff Administration and Services), was there to clarify them.
2.- What tasks have you carried out and what role have you played?
I was in charge of sending the invitations by mail and email, I updated and modified the content of the database of ISSA - School of Management Assistants and I managed the order of the catering for the event.
3.- Do you think that initiatives like this are positive for a student? Why?
Any initiative that brings us closer to our working future is positive, not only for a Management Assistant student, but for any student student, as it allows us to get a better idea of what we will find when we finish degree program.
