Rafael Miranda, biologist and professor of the department of Zoology and Ecology of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, has participated in a research funded by the Percy Sladen Trust (UK).

Together with him, zoologists, ecologists and biologists from five organizations in Spain and England, collected samples and characterized the ecology and biodiversity of the Valcabadillo Lagoon (Burgos) and the wetland around it.

This wetland was recovered three years ago by the Town Council of Tubilla del Lago, after the restoration of three large surface pools that had been covered by organic subject . With these measures, the area once again became a reference point for regional biodiversity and an important habitat for migratory birds. This natural richness and the evolution of the environment achieved in these three years is what has interested this team of scientists.

The goal of the study is to facilitate the management of the lagoon and ensure its conservation in the future.
