13 young people participate in the University in the program "Campus inclusive, campus without limits".
The goal is to promote the integration of young people with disabilities in the university world.
The initiative "Campus inclusivos, Campus sin Límites", which has been inaugurated at the University of Navarra, has as goal to facilitate the inclusion of young people with disabilities in the university world and for this fourth edition has thirteen participants.
subject Of these young people, ten have some kind of disability, mainly visual, and they are students from Sophomore and 1º high school diploma from Navarra, Madrid, Malaga, Seville and Palencia , aged between fifteen and eighteen.
The Vice President of research of the University of Navarra, Iciar Astiasarán, said during the opening ceremony of the program that the university is an institution called to be universal: "This implies that we all fit in it," she said.
On the other hand, the President of the University of Navarra, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, has met with them and they have participated in a musical session given by the former student of the Public University of Navarra Xabier Armendáriz, who has told his experience as a young person with disabilities and has interpreted some piano pieces. Also, a reception will be held at the Government of Navarra, with the President of the Regional Executive, Uxue Barkos.
The participants in the program are: Pablo Alcoholado (Málaga), Raquel Badillo (Málaga), Carmen Bueno (Navarra), Álvaro Fominaya (Madrid), Gonzalo García (Madrid), Rosa María García (Palencia), Maialen Lamarca (Málaga), Carlos Morán (Madrid), Gema Inmaculada Ruiz (Málaga), Paula Salazar (Málaga), Teresa Valls (Navarra), Alfonso Vera (Sevilla) and María Frutos (Navarra).
They are also accompanied by 22 students from the University, who collaborate in the program and belong to thirteen different Degrees , which favors the approach to the different educational offerings.
A program educational and leisureThe program, developed by the Ministry of Education, ONCE Foundation and Repsol Foundation and hosted by the University of Navarra until September 12, organizes activities for students to learn about the university world and its different educational opportunities. To this end, they will participate in the simulation of a trial at School of Law, in the resolution of a clinical case at School of Medicine, in carrying out experiments at Chemistry in the laboratories of School of Sciences, in radio and television practices at School of Communication and in a visit to the automation and automotive workshops of the School of Engineers of San Sebastian.
During the week, leisure activities have also been organized, such as archery, an excursion to Roncesvalles, visits to Pamplona and San Sebastian, in addition to the visit that yesterday took place at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the suspension bridge between Portugalete and Getxo.
The program closes on Friday, September 11 and will feature the attendance of the Minister of Education of the Government of Navarra, José Luis Mendoza.
