"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without faltering", said last Monday, October 23, the former Army Chief of Staff, General Luis Alejandre, during a talk to students about the profile that a good leader must have and how to make effective decisions. The activity, organized by the Marketing and Sales ClubThe activity, organized by the Marketing and Sales Club, was attended by students from different Schools of the University of Navarra.

The classroom one of the School of Economics was not long in filling up with people to listen to the winner of two United Nations medals and the Spanish Grand Cross of Military Merit. However, as he mentioned, a good leader is not only characterized by his resume, but, in the general's words, "he is recognized by what he is capable of achieving".

But to achieve objectives, a leader needs aptitudes and attitudes, which, according to Alejandre, are summary in values and in having "decision-making capacity, energy, inspiring confidence, determination, example, resolute courage, a sense of justice and humanity".

In turn, the guest emphasized the need to be a leader, not only in the work environment or in daily chores, but also in private life; since, without the union of the two worlds, it will not be possible to have a positive influence on society. "The true leader, the one who has a real role in society, is the one who serves," Alejandre confirmed.

Finally, he said that a good leader is often alone, so he is in charge and makes the decisions associated with this loneliness. For this reason, he must know how to get advice and surround himself with people who can help him make better decisions that also fit the context in which he is going to work.
