Dr. Joaquín Giráldez, director of the Hospital Pharmacy service of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and professor of the department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology of the University of Navarra, recently received the Joaquín Bonal Medal during the celebration of the 56th Nationalcongress of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy (SEFH). The congress, held in Santiago de Compostela, will be the last active one for Dr. Giráldez, who will retire next June.

graduate With a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Granada (1967) and a PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra (1977), Dr. Joaquín Giráldez is a specialist in Hospital Pharmacy (1986) and in Industrial and Galenic Pharmacy (2002). He is currently a professor at department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology of the University of Navarra and director of specialization program in Hospital Pharmacy.

The current director of the Hospital Pharmacy Service of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra has presented 150 communications in national and international congresses, has collaborated in 63 books and chapters as author and co-author and has published more than 100 articles in national and international scientific journals.

He is also president of the National Commission of Hospital Pharmacy, board member of the Nationalcommittee of Specialties in Health Sciences and of the National Commission of Hospital Pharmacy on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science.
