DATAI, the University's Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Institute data inaugurates new facility

After four years of research activity, the Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence data of the University has officially inaugurated its new facilities. It is located in the east wing of the Library Services of Humanities, next to classroom Siemens-Gamesa.

This new space facilitates partnership and multidisciplinarity among researchers. According to Jesús López Fidalgo, director of DATAI, "this is a new milestone for the center. Thanks to this new space we will gain in visibility and knowledge of our mission statement and services, both within the academic community and the rest of society".

DATAI's director thanked Paloma Grau, Vice President of research and Sustainability, and Fernando de la Puente, General Manager of the Institute; "for their commitment to the creation of the center and their determination to make this innovative project a reality".

Paloma Grau added that the creation of "DATAI is core topic for the University. It is a center that is called to the partnership between Schools and other centers of research around fundamental issues that planet artificial intelligence such as ethics in its application, regulatory measures or changes in the models of teaching and business of organizations, among many others".

At the forefront in Science of data and Artificial Intelligence

DATAI is the research center, innovation and training of the University that seeks a collaborative work of different groups and individuals of the academic center with the goal to achieve excellence in Science of data and Artificial Intelligence.

Since its creation, it has grown in issue of researchers, associates and guests, with more than 107 professionals. It has organized three scientific conference and there have been two calls for papers in which four prizes have been awarded for the best methodological and applied articles. At present, 9 industrial thesis are being developed and there are four more in the pipeline.

In its mission statement of transfer of knowledge and innovation, its 19 researchers have achieved a European project , two national and six regional competitive . In addition, there are 9 projects with national and international companies.

In addition, DATAI has developed different courses of training that have reached more than 600 students of different professional profile : from a training addressed to junior professionals with the Master's Degree Officer in Big Data Science to professional certificates, micro-courses, In Company programs for companies and other programs focused on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
