Professor Ana Isabel Vitas Pemán, from Microbiology and Parasitology, has been awarded the accreditation as a full professor at department . National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation as full professor in the area of Health Sciences.
Ana Isabel Vitas graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarra in 1989 and 5 years later obtained the degree scroll of PhD in Biology, with the defense of the thesis 'development of a liposomal formulation for the treatment and prophylaxis of brucellosis', which obtained the award extraordinary of doctorate of the School of Sciences.
Since his incorporation in 1995, he has developed his activity professor and research in the area of Food Microbiology. Currently, she is manager of the subjects Food Safety and Risk Analysis and Food Safety that are taught in the Degrees of Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also coordinator of module III (Hygiene, Food Safety and Quality management ) of the latter Degree. She has also participated in European innovation projects professor (Intensive Programs), collaborating in the teaching of the IP Food Safety and Risk Assessment (2006-2007) and Safe and Healthy Food (2008-2010).
Her research activity focuses on various aspects of food safety, with special emphasis on the evaluation of microbiological risks in food (Listeria monocytogenes in ready-to-eat foods), as well as on the implementation of the HACCP system in the catering sector. He has participated in a total of 24 projects funded by public and private calls, being the main researcher of 7 research contracts with companies. She is currently working on the international project BASELINE: Selection and improving of fit-for-purpose sampling procedures for specific foods and riks (VII Program framework).
The projects in which she has participated have allowed her to co-direct 4 doctoral thesis (3 in progress), 10 thesis of Master's Degree and 4 projects for obtaining the DEA. She is co-author of 25 indexed scientific publications, 9 book chapters and one guide on food safety and has presented 45 communications at national and international conferences. In addition, she has collaborated as a reviewer in several international journals in the area of Microbiology and Food Safety. Finally, she carries out her work in the laboratory of Food and Water Microbiology, which under her supervision was accredited by ENAC in 2001 (transcript Nº 275/LE603), and where she carries out the training of scholarship holders within the plan of training of technologists of the department of Industry of the Government of Navarra.
