Professor Ana Isabel Vitas Pemán, of department of Microbiology and Parasitology, has received accreditation the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation as a tenured professor in the area Health Sciences.

Ana Isabel Vitas earned a Bachelor’s degree scroll in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarra in 1989 and, five years later, received degree scroll Biology upon defending her thesis development a Liposomal Formulation for the Treatment and Prophylaxis of Brucellosis, thesis for which she was award School of Science award doctorate award .

Since joining the faculty in 1995, she has worked as professor researcher in the area food microbiology. manager currently manager courses Food Safety and Risk Analysis and Food Safety, which are offered in the Degrees and Human Nutrition and Dietetics Degrees . In addition, she is the coordinator of module (Hygiene, Food Safety, and management ) for the latter Degree professor . She has also participated in European professor innovation projects professor Intensive Programs), collaborating in the teaching the IPs Food Safety and Risk Assessment (2006–2007) and Safe and Healthy Food (2008–2010).

Her research focuses on various aspects of food safety, with a special emphasis on the evaluation microbiological risks in food (Listeria monocytogenes in ready-to-eat foods), as well as on the implementation of the HACCP system in the food service sector. She has participated in a total of 24 projects funded by public and private calls for research , serving as the researcher on 7 research contracts research companies. She is currently working on the project BASELINE project : Selection and improvement of fit-for-purpose sampling procedures for specific foods and risks (7th framework Program).

The projects in which she has participated have enabled her to co-supervise 4 thesis (3 in progress), 10 Master's Degree thesis Master's Degree 4 projects for the DEA Master's Degree . She is co-author of 25 indexed scientific publications, 9 book chapters, and a food guide , and has presented 45 papers at national and international conferences. Additionally, she has served as a reviewer for various international journals in the area Microbiology and Food Safety. Finally, she carries out her research work in the Food and Water laboratory , which was accredited by ENAC in 2001 under her supervision (transcript 275/LE603), and where she training as part of training program training technologists organized by department Industry of the Government of Navarre.
