"The Canon Law must be in connection with life that changes, that transforms, and with truth and stability". Renzo Fratini, during the presentation of the General Dictionary of Canon Law The Pope's visit to the University of Navarre, which took place at the Tribunal of the Rota in Madrid.

Renzo Fratini thanked on behalf of the Church this work, which has lasted 10 years and was divided into three phases: programming, essay and editing. The work, a compilation of 2,509 voices written by 583 authors from 33 countries, is coordinated by Antonio Viana, Javier Otaduy and Joaquín Sedano, professors at the University of Navarra. School of Canon Law University of Navarra, and published by Thomson Reuters Aranzadi.

During the ceremony, Rafael Navarro-Valls, Full Professor of the Complutense University of Madrid and University Secretary of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, said that "the dictionary is highly topical because it addresses such important issues as the family, human sexuality, conscience and freedom. This is a work whose content is not exclusively canonical, but many voices also point to issues that are on the border of theology and Civil Law.

For its part, Javier Otaduy explained that "the dictionary is an ambitious work. We have not wanted to omit any question from Canon Law, neither from the East nor from the West. All the voices have their own structure, so that each one of them has, in turn, connected voices that complete, enrich and help to improve the voice. They serve to explain the architecture of the work realized: to offer a lot of information, in different ways and well formulated".

The universality of the dictionary is given by the origin of its authors, who have been searched by thematic areas. Not only canonists, but also theologians, philosophers, historians and experts in Civil Law have participated in the dictionary. This work is intended to reach not only academics, but also lawyers in general, professionals in the canonical and judicial curia management assistant , and anyone interested in legal or ecclesiastical matters.
