The School of Sciences organizes the III conference of Experimentation in Experimental and Health Sciences.

The goal of the meeting of March 12 is to disseminate the research activity of the area of Sciences of the University of Navarra.

This initiative arises from all the Schools of the area of Sciences with the goal double purpose of offering researchers at training the possibility of exposing and contrasting their results with other researchers while encouraging the exchange of knowledge and methodology in an informal environment.

The workshop will start at 09.00 hours on Friday, March 12 and will consist of short presentations (10 minutes) in which some of the participants will present their research carried out at different Departments of the University. The rest of the students will present their work in the form of poster, which will be exhibited in a convenient place for discussion. There will be a total of 80, exhibited on the floor leave of Hexagon Building so that all those who wish can learn about the lines of research of area of Sciences of the University. In addition, the conference will be closed with a lecture to position by Nora Alonso Casajús, General Manager of business Iden Biotechnology that will show the need for biotechnology-based companies.

The oral presentations will cover topics in areas such as biomedicine, the environment, microbiology or the development of new drugs. For example, Nilza Cristina Buttow will present her work carried out at Departments Microbiology and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology on nanoparticles for the production of vaccines against bacillary dysentery.

The effect of alcohol consumption on the incidence of overweight or obesity in the SUN cohort is the topic of analysis of the team in which María del Carmen Sayón participates. This work is being carried out together with other researchers at department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health.

Leticia Goñi Mateos, from the department of Food Sciences, Physiology and Toxicology of the University of Navarra will present the first results of a research on the prevalence of malnutrition in hospitalized elderly people.

Álvaro Sanz Sáez de Jáuregui, from department at Plant Biology, will be in charge of representing the team that has been researching nitrogen fixation and alfalfa production under climate change conditions.

Another of the topics prepared for these III conference is the comparative study of the chemical characteristics in PM10 and PM2.5 in a rural and urban environment in Navarra, research carried out from the department of Chemistry-Edafology and that will have Janire Aldabe as representative. In addition, Raquel Hernández Martínez, from the same department, will present a research on the analysis and estimation of aflatoxin intake in children's cereals.

Finally, Gerard Vidal Cassanya, from department of Physics and Applied Mathematics will explain what chaos is, why and how it is studied and where it can be applied knowledge in communications. His study is degree scroll 'An application of chaos theory'.

In summary, this workshop is a good opportunity to learn about the potential researcher of the area of Sciences of the University of Navarra and a financial aid in the search for possible topics in which to deepen in programs of study of Master's Degree or thesis doctoral
