Teresa Moreno, from high school de Salud Carlos III, gave the IV lecture of the Chair María Egea of the University of Navarra.
"The percentage of nurses who are PhD student in Spain has multiplied in the last five years, while other countries, such as the United Kingdom or Canada, complain about the lack of professionals to perform it". This was stated by Teresa Moreno, manager of the Unit of research in nursing of the high school of Health Carlos III (Investén-isciii), on the occasion of IV lesson of the Chair Maria Egea, who taught at the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra.
According to the specialist, the access of nursing professionals to doctorate constitutes one of the great advances together with the passage of the degree program from diploma program to Degree, thus putting it on a par with the rest of university careers. "This change, which we have been awaiting for 25 years, will allow us to have a greater professional and scientific career in the field of care. It will also be an opportunity for the National Health System and patients to benefit from advances in this field," added the expert.
The challenge is now, in her opinion, to guarantee the quality of this training, to plan the employment opportunities and its new roles, and to achieve a stable research degree program with application internship, so that this scientific progress has an impact on the care provided to society.
Transfer of results in research in Nursing
Regarding her work as director of the Spanish partner Center high school Joanna Briggs for evidence-based health care, Teresa Moreno explained that her goal consists of transferring to the clinical internship the results of the research in care that is developed in national and international settings, "as well as assessing its scientific quality so that its use can be recommended to all professionals, etc. All this with the solvency of high school de Salud Carlos III and with the financing, in addition, of 15 autonomous communities".
The School of Nursing of the University of Navarra launched in 2007 the Chair María Egea for promote the study, the research and the training of the professionals of the sector with the aim of deepening its principles and improving the care of patients and their families.
