The Clínica Universidad de Navarra and the CIMA ( research center Applied Medicine) have initially formed 14 multidisciplinarytranslational research teams to enhance the patient-centered biomedical research , coordinate all the agents involved in the research projects and optimize the unique opportunities offered by the University's framework .

The cooperation between the basic research teams of CIMA and the medical teams of the Clinic is already a reality, which is reflected in some groups of reference letter in research biomedical. The experience of these years sample the need to promote these collaborations with a regular and systematic methodology to expand successful collaborations. To this end, the teams have been created.

"In the Scientific Strategic Plan of the University of Navarra, a fundamental role is played by the reinforcement of the research partnership between the CIMA, the Clinic and other centers involved in biomedical research . To reinforce the partnership between the CIMA and the Clinic, the Multidisciplinary Translational research Teams and the Joint Program Boards have been set up", explains Dr. Javier Díez, director of the committee Scientific of CIMA.

CIMA and Clinical: Synergies and opportunities for partnership

The goal of the teams is precisely to increase the synergy in biomedical research at the University of Navarra and specifically between CIMA and the Clinic. Its mission statement is to promote the development oftranslational research programs of common interest for both centers, to identify new opportunities for partnership, to attract researchers withtranslational profile and to attract funding for these programs.

This scenario offers a unique partnership opportunity: The patient is the origin and the end of the research, both the Clinic and CIMA. The Clinic enables CIMA access to the patient as the source of biological samples, model of disease and opportunity to evaluate molecules or biomarkers derived from the basic research .
