Three pharmacy graduates from the University among the top 15 in the world's top 15 in the spanish pharmacy residency program
María Arrieta, from Navarre, has achieved 5th place and in total, five graduates have obtained place with a pass rate of more than 20% when the average is 6%.
In this edition of the Resident Intern Pharmacist exam (spanish pharmacy residency program ), three pharmacy graduates from the University of Navarra have been among the top 15 of the test. They are María Arrieta from Navarra -issue 5-, Carlos Borja de Gorostiza from Murcia - position 13-, and Paula Aldave from Navarra -issue 15-.
Another graduate from Navarra, María Zazu, was ranked 36th and Rosalía de la Riva, from Asturias, was ranked 132nd at place . In total, five University of Navarra graduates obtained place at spanish pharmacy residency program , which represents a pass rate of more than 20%, compared to the 6.6% of average at test.
In this edition, 1,468 candidates applied for one of the 218 specialist positions in hospital centers, which represented 17.4% fewer positions than in the previous edition. Of the total number of positions offered, 215 are for the public sector and 3 for the private sector.
Hospital pharmacy: specialization program preferentialMaría Arrieta, issue 5 in the test, is clear that she is going to opt for the specialization program of hospital pharmacy, although she still does not know where to develop it. "My goal, since I started studying, was to get the best place possible, and for this I have been both at the academy and at home, where I have studied a lot since July until the exam in February".
Her friend and colleague Paula Aldave -issue 15 - also opts for hospital pharmacy: "I had it clear for a long time. I wanted to opt for the hospital or the pharmacy office, and I think that the 4-yearresidency program will give me the bonus of learning a lot, being aware of all the latest news, in the context of a hospital". In his opinion, it is complicated to obtain place at test because a slight difference in the exam puts you in a position to choose specialization program, or not to be able to do so.
Carlos Borja, with the 13th place in the test, recognizes that the result was a surprise: "It is a issue that I would have signed before taking the exam because I didn't think I was going to do so well. I hadn't had much time to prepare for it... Besides, this subject exam, where you only have one chance to answer, makes you nervous...". Now that she knows that she will be able to choose specialization program she says that there are several that interest her:"I am very interested in clinical analysis, hospital pharmacy and microbiology. As for the city where to do the specialization program, I would like to try Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid".
