The Full Professor of the University of Navarra, Javier Tourón, has been awarded with the I award European Networking Talent in recognition of his work for the development of talent in Europe awarded by The Association of Hungarian Talent Support Organizations (MATEHETSZ), in cooperation with the European Council for High Abilty (ECHA) and the European Talent Centre-Budapest (EUTC). This award will also be received by past presidents of ECHA on the framework of a congress to be held in May in Budapest, Hungary.

On May 8, 9 and 10 will take place the congress "Towards a European Talent Support Network International Conference".Professor Tourón will give the plenary lecture lecture on Saturday 10th, European Talent Day, with the degree scroll: "Talent Search a Model for Schools".

"In recent years the need for greater linkage between European initiatives carried out in different countries is seen as inexcusable for promote a better service to development of the talent of our young people, precisely the most important capital of any society," says Javier Tourón.

Career at the University of Navarra

The line of research on high capacities and development of talent began at the University of Navarra in 1993, with the help of Professor Javier Tourón and has continued uninterruptedly since then, becoming one of the references in Spain and Europe.

Since 1994 he has participated in all ECHA congresses presenting the results of his research in this forum, either in plenary lectures or in symposia with colleagues from other countries.

In 1995 he went to contact with the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins Universitya world reference in the attention to talent development . As a result of this relationship, in 2001 he founded CTY in Spain, which became the second Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth International charter member.

In 1996, a subject on this subject began to be taught to students of the Degrees of Education of the University of Navarra, which, since the 2013-14 academic year, has been taught in English.

During the years 2000-2004 he chaired the European Council for High Ability, which in 2004 held its biennial congress at the University of Navarra with the participation of 300 people from more than 25 countries.

From 2003-2011 he was a member of the National Advisory Boardresearch and intervention have gone hand in hand in his work and during the ten years of operation of CTY Spain more than 1000 families with high ability children were attended.

Currently, it continues to collaborate with numerous educational centers in the implementation of processes of identification and attention to development of talent, with the help of digital technology.

In the field of research, in these years he has published more than eighty works including books, book chapters, articles in specialized journals and contributions to conferences. He also carries out a constant work of dissemination in the main social networks. His blog Talent and Education has already reached more than 250,000 visits
