Julia Lozano (Pharmacy, 2017), a student of Master's Degree in design Galenic and Manufacturing in the Pharmaceutical Industry (MDGFIF), is at Novartis (Barberá del Vallés, Catalonia) doing her twelve-month paid internship as part of the MDGFI.

"I started at a department reviewing the primary and secondary packaging of all the batches that were being manufactured," Julia says. It was there that she met the Novartis team she now works with. Julia says that this is where she realized that the limits in learning are set by oneself because "nobody will deny you financial aid or training, it's a matter of interest and attitude".

"Once I got to know the base of business, I was able to move to department where the Quality Assurance people worked. That is where I will finish my internship, reviewing the documentation of each batch before it is released by the QPs (Qualified person)," Julia says and concludes: "The world of business is huge. I wasn't aware of the pharmacist's role in companies like this until I started my internship and now I understand its importance".

The MDGFI seeks to train highly qualified pharmacists to develop their professional activity in the design, development and manufacture of medicines. For this purpose, it has a highly qualified team professor and a Pilot Plant for the training internship in production and quality control of pharmaceutical forms. Students also carry out paid internships in the pharmaceutical industry at national level during the second year of Master's Degree
