The School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra celebrated last September 10 the graduation of the ninth promotion of the IX EuropeanMaster's Degree in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism. Fifteen students participated in this edition , twelve of them international students from Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala and Venezuela.

After an introductory speech by director of Master's Degree Alfredo Martínez, Dr. María Rodríguez-Palmero, director of research Basic of Laboratorios Ordesa, gave the closing lecture . With the degree scroll "research andinnovation in lipid ingredients of importance in infant feeding", she explained the processes carried out by her business to make their infant milk products similar to mother's milk, which is "the golden patron saint of infant feeding".

Under this patron saint, the expert pointed out that"lipids represent 50% of the energy provided by breast milk". At the same time, she affirmed that these "constitute 30% of brain weight, since the brain contains a high concentration of fatty acids compared to other tissues". Along these lines, Rodriguez-Palmero highlighted his company's commitment to research and innovation in lipid ingredients in its infant milks, so that they are as similar as possible to the nutritional contributions of the mother, a goal which has a direct impact on the child's visual, cognitive and psychomotor development .

Dr. Rodríguez-Palmero's intervention is an example of the lectures that the students of Master's Degree have been able to attend during one year. For Alfonso Silva, student postgraduate, the Master's Degree "has provided me with academic tools and experience with state-of-the-art analytical equipment, thanks to which I will be able to face new challenges related to research in health". Her colleague Luz Valencia says that the postgraduate program has "put her skills to test " and has allowed her to "broaden my academic horizons by providing me with an excellent academic training , thanks to which I will have more opportunities to succeed".

The event was presided over by Adela López de Cerain, dean of the academic center, who, after giving a speech to the postgraduates at presentation of graduation sashes , closed the ceremony.
