Pharmacy students and professionals, from the first year onwards

The School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra has inaugurated a new classroom internship that simulates a pharmacy office.

The space, which is supported and financed by Laboratorios Cinfa, will be used for the training of students of Degree and postgraduate program and the professional update ; as well as for the organization of thematic weeks in which students will be able to teach and receive committee pharmaceutical with the support of their corresponding tutors.

For its director, Professor Berta Lasheras, "the new classroom Pharmacy internship University of Navarra-Cinfa is the ideal environment to contextualize the subjects applied in the pharmacy office. In addition, it allows students to develop the skills of the healthcare professional, such as confidentiality, communication with the patient, the use of new technologies or the management of resources," she emphasized.

For his part, Enrique Ordieres, president of Laboratorios Cinfa, recalled at the opening ceremony of the new facilities that the students now have "a place where they can do practical work and get to know in depth the workings of the pharmacy offices. As future professionals, they will value the importance of the pharmacist's proximity to the patient and availability ". "For Cinfa Laboratories," Ordieres continued, "it is a great satisfaction to have contributed with this learning tool to the training of future pharmacists, one of our most important commitments as laboratory".

The patient at the center

Students will use the classroom in different subjects throughout the degree program. Together with the graduates, they will attend courses at update in Pharmacotherapy and practical courses in Phytotherapy or Dermopharmacy. And as a way of educational activity and assistance, they will carry out, authorized by their teachers, consultations open to all the staff of campus, who will be able to go to classroom to solve doubts about the indications of a certain medicine, its side effects, etc.

According to the dean of the University of Navarra's Pharmacy School , Iciar Astiasarán, the initiative "responds to a competency-based training , where students learn from the beginning to place the patient at the center of the internship healthcare system.
