In February 2020, Gabriel Saez, president of Ingesport and GoFit, attended the Sports and Society Forum as a guest.
In his exhibition he defended sport as a state function and as an engagement with society. He stated that sport is a huge iceberg that is hidden and has an important opportunity cost for the individual and for society as a whole.
"Sport needs to redefine itself to be a cross-cutting concept," Saez said. Sport affects all areas: healthcare, Education, Economics, employment, etc.
He defined sport as an element that solves many problems and affirmed that it should be a fundamental actor in the healing of society and an element to reach the happiness of the citizens, and qualified it as a "polypill" for the current ills.
In relation to the ADO program, he said that "it has a budget of 54 million euros. France, on the other hand, has a budget of 1,000 million euros".
For this reason, Saez assured that "sport in Spain is not considered a matter of state and medicine lives with its back turned to sport. For example, it would be interesting to know when doctors will prescribe sport. Forty years ago this country lived in the prehistory of sport and although now there is a road mapped out, there should be a plan director for sport. Sport in the United States is very important in companies and they make sure that their employees do sport", he emphasized.
