Behind the degree scroll "Didactics of Pre-University Chemistry " hides a new MOOC course ( Massive Online Open Courses) specially oriented to teachers who want to teach their students to learn Chemistry in a internship, enjoyable and effective way.

In fact, the director of the course -the professor of department of Chemistry of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra José Ramón Isasi- explains in the video of presentation of the course how they have structured the MOOC to make it attractive and practical: "Many teachers are dedicated to the teaching of the Chemistry in the pre-university period and although this science excites us, it is not always easy to teach it in good measure because we transmit complex concepts that students do not always understand. And you can't value what you don't understand".

"For this reason," emphasizes professor, "in this course we want to provide a model to transmit knowledge in the most effective way possible: first, we propose to explore beforehand with the students what knowledge they have about subject. Secondly, we will awaken their interest with a fact, an experiment or an anecdote related to topic. We will also provide the teachers with various experiments using materials from laboratory, but also with "ingredients" that can be found in every home". Finally, the course will offer several methods to evaluate the students at the end of training.

In addition to helping to teach this science through active learning techniques, José Ramón Isasi considers that another relevant point is to know how to transmit to students "that studying Chemistry can provide them with many and varied job opportunities. In fact, at the end there will be a series of videos with testimonials about the professional performance of several graduates".

The deadline of registration is still open on the Miriadax website.
