Behind the degree scroll "Didactics of Pre-University Chemistry " hides a new MOOC course ( Massive Online Open Courses) specially oriented to teachers who want to teach their students to learn Chemistry in a internship, enjoyable and effective way.

In fact, the director — José Ramón Isasi, a professor in department Chemistry School of Science University of School of Science explains in the presentation video how they have structured the MOOC to make it engaging and practical: “Many of us teachers are dedicated to teaching Chemistry the pre-university level, and although we are passionate about this science, it is not always easy to teach it effectively, largely because we convey complex concepts that students do not always understand. And you cannot appreciate what you do not understand.”

"For this reason," emphasizes professor, "in this course we want to provide a model to transmit knowledge in the most effective way possible: first, we propose to explore beforehand with the students what knowledge they have about subject. Secondly, we will awaken their interest with a fact, an experiment or an anecdote related to topic. We will also provide the teachers with various experiments using materials from laboratory, but also with "ingredients" that can be found in every home". Finally, the course will offer several methods to evaluate the students at the end of training.

In addition to helping to teach this science through active learning techniques, José Ramón Isasi considers that another relevant point is to know how to transmit to students "that studying Chemistry can provide them with many and varied job opportunities. In fact, at the end there will be a series of videos with testimonials about the professional performance of several graduates".

The deadline of registration is still open on the Miriadax website.
