60 experts, professionals and technicians from Mexico, Colombia and Argentina, surveyed for the project on Education of character

This is the first wave of Delphi questionnaires of the research jointly developed by the School of Education and Psychology and the ICS.

More than 200 experts, professionals and technicians of Education from Mexico, Colombia and Argentina have been surveyed in the framework of the project 'Investigating and promote Education of character in secondary schools and in Latin America'. Of these, more than 60 responses have already been received. The research is developed jointly by the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra and the ICS with the financial support of the Templeton World Charity Foundation.

The fundamentalgoal of this first wave of questionnaires is to know the state of the art of Education of character in these three Latin American countries. General questions about Education in these countries, sociocultural context issues, curricular issues and more specific questions about Education character, among many other aspects, have been included.

Once the answers have been collected, the next step will be to elaborate a second questionnaire of in-depth questions to be asked by fill in the participants themselves until a set of well-defined statements about the current status of the Education character and what challenges and opportunities are detected for this area in each region.

Delphi technique: rigorous method of enquiry

From agreement with the researchers, the Delphi technique was chosen because it offers a rigorous method of enquiry that allows to explore previously unknown questions about Education character policies and attitudes of experts, practitioners and technicians in each of the three countries studied.

promote Education The project 'Researching and promoting character education in Central and South American secondary schools' (Researching and promoting character education in Central and South American secondary schools) aims to gain a better understanding of the training of positive character traits - particularly social and moral virtues - and to analyze how they can be promoted in secondary schools in Latin America.

It includes a theoretical part research and an application part internship, focused on Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. In these countries, it is planned to review Education policies and good practices in educational centers, consulting those responsible in each region. In addition, the team will develop six programs of study case studies in secondary schools.
