2016 PROGRAMMING PREVIEW

The first event for the University of Navarra Museum in 2016 will be the celebration of its first anniversary on January 22. After recalling the inaugural events and taking stock of the first year of activity, the new season will begin, covering the months of January to June 2016.

PERFORMING ARTS

Between January and June 2016, a total of 22 shows for all audiences and tastes will be offered, with a clear predominance of music. The activities have been carried out by invitation or at partnership with relevant institutions in the performing arts sector at national and international level. In this sense, it is worth mentioning that many of the collaborations initiated since the inauguration of the Museum -one year ago- with Navarrese cultural institutions, will see the light in this coming season: the concerts of the Conservatory of Pamplona, the Symphonic Orchestra of Navarre or the auroros of Peralta, are a sample.

The new season at the Teatro del Museo brings with it the second edition of three cycles that began to be programmed in the museum's first year. February will be the month of dance, with various activities programmed under the umbrella of the "Coda en movimiento" brand. In March, "Cartographies" will focus on music. And, on dates close to Easter, a musical performance will be programmed, called "Musicae Artis", which will present a different production each year. This year, it is a concert with more than 120 auroros, from different towns in Navarra, who will offer an itinerant concert through the university campus to culminate with a musical performance in the Museum's theater.

"Coda en movimiento" is a dance series curated annually by the dance critic of El País, Roger Salas. In this 2016 edition, it aims to bring the world of dance through film. It kicks off with the screening of the classic musical West Side Story and a performance by Marquese Scott, a renowned choreographer and dancer specializing in the "dubstep" technique who has garnered significant success thanks to the videos of his choreographies on YouTube, which already have more than 130 million views.

"Cartografías", coordinated this year by Joseba Torre, musical composer, pays tribute to international artists, creators and local groups of great prestige, and travels through the artistic territories that accompanied the pictorial emergence of the avant-garde of the twentieth century, as well as offering a forum for reflection and essay for new generations in search of artistic proposals of all subject. The Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra will offer one of the programmed concerts.

As a complement to the performance of some artists at the Museum, a series of meetings and masterclasses will be held with them, open to the public. Quico Cadaval, oratory expert; Agustín González Acilu, composer; Rafael Moneo, architect; Marquese Scott, dubstep dancer; José Carlos Martínez, director of the National Dance Company; Virgilio Sieni, director dance at the Venice Biennale; or Carlos Mena, countertenor, among others.

EXHIBITIONS

Three new exhibitions will be inaugurated in the first semester of next year. They are works by artists who have participated in the project of creation promoted by the center since 2002, called "Tender Bridges.Tender Puentes".

Joan Fontcuberta

Great exhibition retrospective of the Catalan photographer Joan Fontcuberta. His work dialogues and at the same time adapts to the environment of the University of Navarra and finds the partnership of the Museum of Natural Sciences of the university center, which has about 7,000 pieces (animals and minerals) from all over the world.

Atelier Retaguardia

The Atelier Retaguardia was a team of five photographers (Martí Llorens, Rebecca Mutell, Arcangela Regis, Israel Ariño and Xavier Mulet) who, when they disbanded, donated their entire work to the Museum. They used 19th century photographic techniques for their artistic creations. They carried out a very important work of research, collecting, preservation and transmission of primitive photography, which is an authentic intangible heritage of humanity.

Pierre Gonnord

The French photographer and portraitist, resident in Spain since 1988, has been awarded this year with the award International Photography of Alcobendas and in 2007 with the award de la Cultura de la Comunidad de Madrid.

PUBLIC PROGRAMS AND CINEMA

The academic programs is completed with lectures by a series of experts and art curators including Sergio Rubira, Nieves Acedo, Fernando Castro Flórez, Olga Fernández and Nuria Enguita.

The film program will essentially consist of a general cycle to be held from January to June. Under the program's degree scroll "What is cinema, etc.", it will propose several mini-cycles that will involve as many aesthetic and conceptual approaches to the history and present of cinema, presenting both fiction classics and documentaries, contemporary films (including several that will be premiered in Pamplona) and artistic or experimental works. director We will also have some guests, such as the filmmaker Jaime Rosales, winner of a award Goya for best director for La soledad (2007), who will have a meeting with the public and will present one of his latest films.

Likewise, the permanent film program will continue at conference room 5 (Floor -1), with a new program of films by Norman McLaren graduate "The Dancer", which will run parallel to some of the dance performance activities.

Finally, as a novelty, Saturday afternoons will offer family movies at the museum, with a selection of classics and recent films of all genres, especially designed for children.
