Aimed at 5th year Pharmacy students and the general public, it was used to present its treatment by means of compressive therapy, as well as exercises to improve circulation.

The classroom Pharmacy internship of the University of Navarra, in partnership with Cinfa Laboratories, organized a workshop on chronic venous insufficiency, aimed at 5th year Pharmacy students and the general public. goal The aim of the workshop was twofold: on the one hand, to inform about chronic venous insufficiency and its treatment by means of compressive therapy and, on the other hand, to present the orthopedic products used in its treatment, recommendations for their correct placement and simple exercises to improve circulation.

The activity was held in a single session, under the degree scroll "Piernas cansadas, ¿cómo mejorar?", at position by Natalia Lecumberri, product manager for orthopedics at Laboratorios Cinfa, and was attended by about thirty people.

Chronic venous insufficiency is the most common vascular disease in the population. It is a condition in which there is a greater difficulty for venous return, which becomes more evident when the patient is standing. Symptomatology is very varied and non-specific: heavy legs, varicose veins, swelling, pain, varicose veins, cramps, paresthesia and venous ulceration, and affects women in particular, being up to five times more frequent than in men.

Risk factors include, in addition to gender, prolonged standing and sedentary lifestyle, obesity, age, pregnancy and personal history.

How to prevent it
The most recommended preventive and treatment measures include healthy lifestyle habits that facilitate venous return, such as physical exercise, especially hiking, swimming or cycling, upward massages, elevation of the legs during sleep, application of cold showers or compresses, or alternating with warm water.

Another measure internship for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency is compression therapy using stockings especially indicated for people with a sedentary occupation, patients with varicose veins and swelling and pregnant women, among others.
