On September 19 and 20, the University of Navarra will be holding the Course of update Pastoral of the School of Theologywhich will bring together priests from different Spanish dioceses to work on "The pastoral care of the sacrament of reconciliation: experiences and proposals".

The course aims to offer ideas and useful suggestions to bring the faithful closer to the sacrament of penance in the field of parish pastoral care. To achieve this purpose, two lectures (opening and closing) and four round tables with colloquium on pastoral topics have been planned with the participation of experienced parish priests from Malaga, Murcia, Madrid, Seville, Pamplona, Castellon, Burgos, Almeria and Santiago de Compostela.

Msgr. José María Yanguas, Bishop of Cuenca, will be in charge of opening the course on Tuesday, September 19, with a discussion paper focused on "Mercy and penance". Ángel Rodríguez Luño, professor of the School of Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome), will close the course on Wednesday, September 20, with a lecture entitled "The conscience of the penitent"..

Four round tables to contribute experiences and proposals

"How to bring the sacrament of reconciliation closer to the faithful" will be the first roundtable of meeting. It will be moderated by Juan Luis Lorda, professor at the University and will include the participation of Antonio Cobo, parish priest of the Immaculate Conception of Adra (Almeria); Abel Arrieta, Episcopal vicar of teaching Religious (Pamplona) and Jose Luis Pascual, director of department of Informatics (Burgos).

The second roundtable It will revolve around "How to organize celebrations" and will be moderated by Félix María Arocena, professor at the University. It will be attended by Gregorio Sillero, parish priest of Our Lady of Bethlehem in Tomares (Seville); Juan Carlos Vizoso, chaplain of the high school Diocesan Mater Dei and Vice President of the seminar Major Mater Dei (Segorbe-Castellón); José Antúnez, assigned to the Parish of St. Teresa and St. Isabel (Madrid).

"The experiences of the confessor" will be the focus of the third roundtable, which will be moderated by Daniel Granada, professor at the University. Speakers will include Aurelio Fernandez, assigned to the Parish of Buen Suceso (Madrid); Victor Sanchez Lado, pastor of San Cayetano (Santiago de Compostela); and Rafael Rodriguez, pastor of Santo Cristo del Calvario (Marbella).

The fourth and last roundtable will be moderated by the University professor, Augusto Sarmiento and will offer "Psychological and legal aspects". The speakers will be Silvestre del Amor, pastor of San Miguel Arcángel (Murcia); and José Bernal, professor at School of Canon Law.
