The University of Navarra 's NursingSchool has launched a campaign to recruit university volunteers between the ages of 18 and 24 who smoke at least one cigarette a week to take part in a smoking cessation program. The initiative is part of the project Healthy University which, for years, has sought to turn the academic center into an environment where healthy lifestyles are promoted.

Since the study began in 2001, the University of Navarra has become a smoke-free center, as well as being one of the pioneering universities in Spain to carry out such an initiative."The impact on the reduction of exhibition to tobacco smoke has been positive for both employees and students," according to Professor Navidad Canga, director of project.

In his opinion, "the development of this intervention, which is now in its third phase, could bring benefits in the present and future health of students, while favoring the creation of a healthy environment within the university, a priority line of research in national and international academic centers".

Those interested in participating, both students from the University of Navarra and the Public University of Navarra, can contact contact with the project team via email: unsaludable@unav.es
