Experts discuss accessibility in architecture and urban planning, in technology and in the media

The meeting, organized by the association Universal Accessibility and the University of Navarra, will feature the author of the T4 and the Real Madrid Sports City.

The association Universal Accessibility (AAU) and the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra will hold on 17 and 18 some conference in the campus Pamplona. Experts from different sectors will analyze the relationship between accessibility and the media, technology and urban planning, among other topics.

The inauguration will be attended by Anai Astiz, Minister of Development and Housing of the Government of Navarra; Marcelo Talens, president of high school of Basque-Navarre Architects (Navarre Delegation); José María Casado, president of AAU; and Icíar Astiasarán, Vice President of research of the University.

The program conference of Universal Accessibility will begin on the 17th, with two blocks of topics: the 'Human vision of architecture' and 'Accessibility in technology'. Architect Antonio Lamela, author of Real Madrid's New Sports City, the expansion and remodeling of the Bernabéu and the project of Barajas T4, will speak on the former. In the second session, Juan Luis Quincoces, director general of the National Center for Accessibility Technologies; Ramón Palau, General Manager of Transporte Urbano Comarcal (TCC) of Pamplona; José Manuel Azorín, head of social products at Vodafone Spain; and Luis Serrano, professor at the Public University of Navarra, will debate.

The workshop on the 18th will begin with a roundtable on 'Accessibility in the media', with the participation of Belén Ruiz, technical director of the Spanish Center for Subtitling and Audio Description; Alberto Guzmán, journalist of Diario de Noticias; Marko Galarza, director of business of IT Services Anet S.L.; and Roberto Cámara, director of Navarra Televisión.

A Finnish 'guru' will speak on architecture and the senses.
The next session will focus on 'Accessibility in the Building andurban planning'. The speakers will be Juan Novillo, General Manager of AENOR Consumer Affairs; Enrique Rovira-Beleta, professor at School of Architecture of the International University of Catalonia; Iñaki Bergera, professor at the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Zaragoza; and José Vicente Valdenebro, General Manager of the City Council of Pamplona.

Afterwards, Finnish architect Juhani Pallasmaa will give a talk at lecture 'The Architecture of the Senses'. This specialist was director of the Museum of Architecture of Finland and professor at the Helsinki University of Technology. He has written numerous articles, and his work 'The Eyes of the Skin. Architecture and the Senses has become a classic in architectural theory and is required reading in architecture schools around the world.

The closing ceremony will be attended by the coordinator of the Real board of trustees on Disability, Jesús Celada; the mayor of Pamplona, Enrique Maya; the director of the School, Mariano González Presencio; and the president of AAU, José María Casado. On the other hand, at the framework of the conference , awards and recognitions will be given to companies, institutions and liberal professionals. In addition, awards will be given for the 'Intergenerational Center in Pamplona' accessibility contest, in which students from subject Proyectos II participated.
