Catherine Geissler, XI award International Food and Health Award given by the University of Navarra
The expert in Nutrition receives the award in the framework of the III Healthy Eating Day.
The School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra has awarded the XI International award Food and Health to Catherine Geissler, Professor Emeritus of Human Nutrition at King's College London and administrative assistant general of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS). The submission of the award will take place on Friday, October 16 during the celebration of the III Healthy Eating Day, organized by School on the occasion of World Food Day.
Among the events planned and open to the public, Catherine Geissler will give the lecture "International Advances in Public Health Nutrition". In addition, the Mediterranean per diem expenses will be promoted throughout the day in the cafeterias, canteens and vending machines of the university campus . In addition, information points will be set up in these establishments, run by students of Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics to answer questions about food.
50 years researching in Public Health and NutritionProfessor Geisser's scientific degree program has been linked to Nutrition from a Public Health point of view, seeking to improve the effectiveness of nutritional policies aimed at improving nutritional status in both emerging and developed countries. Her more than 200 scientific publications, as well as her involvement in numerous international committees, have helped to strengthen national nutrition "systems" and to improve nutritional policies at the Public Health level.
Professor Geissler has spent time at research in Berkely (USA), San Francisco (USA), Tehran (Iran) and Paris (France). In addition, she has served as president of the UK Nutrition Society and has served on advisory and consulting boards for institutions such as the World Bank, the World Health Organization, the European Parliament, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
