The School of Education and Psychology of the University and the Centro de Psicología Álava Reyes have signed a agreement of partnership to promote the training of psychologists through the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology. As part of this partnership, the Master's Degree has organized the workshop 'Challenges in Mental Health: How to reduce absenteeism and promote wellbeing in young people', on November 26, at 6.15 p.m., at the campus of the University of Navarra in Madrid.

The meeting will address the increase in the rate of absenteeism from work and its relationship with mental health problems; and the growth in demand for psychological care among young people. "Around 50% of work absenteeism has to do with problems related to Mental Health. Added to this is the increase in the consumption of psychotropic drugs in our adolescents and young people, and that suicide has become the leading cause of death in this population," says Mª Jesús Álava, director of the Álava Reyes Psychology Center.

The workshop will address what good practices are being carried out by the profession and what needs of training psychologists require to respond to these demands. Among the speakers will be the psychologists Mª Jesús Álava Reyes, Javier Urra, prosecutor of the High Court of Justice of Madrid; Francisco José Santolaya, president of the committee General of Psychology of Spain; and Elkin Luis, Deputy Director of the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology.

"This partnership will increase the training and professional experience for future professionals in General Health Psychology, as well as new collaborations in research and development+I with the Alava Reyes Center," explains Jesús de la source, director of Master's Degree in General Health Psychology and Associate Dean of research of the School of Education and Psychology. "It is a privilege to collaborate with this University. Our experience of more than 10 years in the training, coupled with that of this academic center, will boost this Master's Degree to train professionals to meet the high demand of employment in this sector, adds Mª Jesús Álava Reyes.
