María Echegoyen award Universidad Tomás Belzunegui 2017
The Alumni of the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra has been awarded for her work Fin de Degree
María Echegoyen Pedroarena, former student of the School Nursing, has been awarded with the award Tomás Belzunegui 2017, in the University category. Specifically, her work de Fin de Degree (TFG) La importancia del cuidado de enfermería ante la soledad del anciano hospitalizado (The importance of nursing care in the face of loneliness in the hospitalized elderly) has been awarded. The work was directed by Dr. Amparo Zaragoza Salcedo, and the award has received it from the hands of Dr. Ana Canga Armayor, professor of the subject of the Degree in Nursing "Nursing Care to the Elderly Person".
The award, which was presented last Thursday at the Palacio del Condestable in Pamplona, is the second one received by a student of the School of Nursing. Last year the first award was received by María Teresa Gutiérrez Alemán, for the elaboration of a tool of evaluation geriatric integral nursing.
About the awardsThe award pays tribute to the creator of the Geriatrics Service of the Hospital de Navarra, Dr. Tomás Belzunegui Sarasa, who founded the Geriatrics Service of the Hospital de Navarra in 1980 with the partnership of Dr. Joaquín Peñalba. The Navarra Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology wanted to name the awards after him because of the innovative and pioneering character of Dr. Belzunegui and for his vision of the characteristics of comprehensive and continuous care for the elderly.
