The School of Medicine gives a course on qualitative research
The workshop was led by Professor Carole Robinson of the University of British Columbia.
The department of Education Medical of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra has given a course of research qualitative for teachers together with the ATLANTES program high school of Culture and Society of the University of Navarra. The sessions, which were given at position by Professor Carole Robinson of the University of British Columbia, aimed to introduce the participants to this technique of research whose goal is to approach the knowledge of reality taking into account the perspective of people as "necessary actors of events or occurrences that make up that reality".
As the organizers explained, "the qualitative research can be of great value for professionals working in the health field", however, because these professionals have traditionally received a Education based on positivist currents,"their notions about the qualitative approach are limited".
research to improve the quality of teachingDr. Leire Arbea, who attended the course, highlighted how "this methodology of research allows you to analyze qualitative aspects related to the quality of teaching in a structured and scientific way". She also pointed out that the course gave her a new perspective on how to do research at teaching, "which will allow us to design new programs of study aimed at rigorously analyzing qualitative aspects of our teaching activities and thus propose strategies for improvement".
On June 4, 5 and 6 there will be another workshop organized by the Unit of Education Medical graduate "Learning styles" which will run to position of the doctor in psychology of the Education and specialist in Methodology of the teaching, Ruthmarijke Smeding, of the high school of Palliative Care at the University of Liverpool. This course, aimed at teachers of Health Sciences, will deepen in the application of pedagogical methods (Kolb'smodel ) and will teach how to analyze the learning profile of students, in order to improve teaching actions according to student body.
