The School of Pharmacy closes the first edition of the Permanent seminar of Humanities Pharmaceuticals

The School of Pharmacy closed the first edition of the Permanentseminar of Humanities Pharmacists, a lecture series organized by the area of Humanities Pharmacists of the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. The goal of these sessions was to discuss ethical, legal or social issues of the pharmaceutical profession.
One hundred attendees, including professionals, teachers and students, participated in the four sessions that took place during the 2014-2015 academic year:"Pharmacy, professional vocation or business?, "How to do palliative care being a pharmacist","The financing of medicines from an ethical perspective. The case of hepatitis C treatment", and "The liberalization of pharmacy".
Reflect on the identity and function of the profession.According to ProfessorJosé López Guzmán, coordinator of seminar, with these sessions "we wanted to create a forum for discussion on the issues that most concern and interest the pharmaceutical profession today". In addition, he points out, "by approaching the topics with a humanistic approach , including legal, ethical and historical aspects, we intend to reflect on the identity and role of the pharmaceutical profession in society, considering the current challenges and problems that exist."
