Three Galicians and one woman from Murcia prepared for the international phase of the competition in this research center
The winners of the National Biology Olympiad enjoyed a week's stay at the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) of the University of Navarra. They are Paloma Mª García Cegarra from Murcia, Álvaro Rivera and Aarón Peleteiro from Vigo, and Alba García Ulloa, from A Coruña.
The award of the national competition , which took place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in April, consisted of 250 euros and a visit to CIMA, which served as preparation for the international phase. The "Olympic Team" representing Spain is currently participating in the international competition, which will run until July 22 in Saskatoon (Canada).
In addition to getting to know the CIMA, each student participated in work sessions at laboratory together with a researcher tutor . They also visited the campus and its Science area , where they learned techniques in Zoology and Ecology, and in optical and electron microscopy.
