Experts to discuss travel literature at the University of Navarra

Several experts in literature will be given quotation at the University of Navarra during the celebration of the summer course "Yesterday and today of travel literature". The event will take place on August 18 and 19 at the Palacio de Condestable.

The goal of the course is "to familiarize the public with travel literature from Greco-Latin antiquity to the present". To this end, aspects such as "the initiatory journey, the fantastic journey and the spiritual journey will be addressed, in addition to drawing the profile of some specific travelers and their literary production".

The first lecture will be at position by José B. Torres Guerra, from the University of Navarra, who will speak on "My great Greek journey. Journey and adventure in the Odyssey, Xenophon and Pseudo-Callisthenes"; followed by Carmen Jusué, from the National University of Education a Distancia, who will focus on travelers on the Camino de Santiago.

Later, there will be presentations by Raúl Manchón Gómez, from the University of Jaén, and María Carmen Pinillos, from the University of Navarra, followed by the celebration of a roundtable.

The following day, the program will begin with discussion paper by Sara Poot Herrera, from the University of California Santa Barbara, and will continue with "El viaje de recreo de Pedro Antonio de Alarcón de Madrid a Napolés", by Enrique Miralles García; "La literatura de viajes y la California hispana", by Antonio Cortijo Ocaña; and "Viajeras argentinas del siglo XX: Victoria Ocampo y María Rosa Oliver", by Javier de Navascués.

Finally, Covadonga Romero, from the UNED, and Enrique Miralles, from the University of Barcelona and manager of the online portal "Viajeros españoles", will speak on "Viajeros españoles en la web".
