''Research with'' instead of ''research for''.
A project led by Dr. Antonio Monge, director of the CIFA of the University of Navarra, a reference in the research of medicines and the development of the people.
A work on research of medicines and development of the peoples, coordinated by Dr. Antonio Monge, director of the research center in Applied Pharmacobiology of the University of Navarra (CIFA), remains, 10 years later, a reference among the scientific publications of this specialization program according to the BioMedLib bibliographic database.
The article, prepared with researchers from 13 countries, proposes extending the partnership in research and development+i between developed and developing societies development. It also advocates changing the traditional principle of "research for" to "research with", so that all countries are protagonists of their destiny and no one is satisfied with being a mere recipient of research or infrastructures. The study also suggests working taking into account traditional knowledge, "being essential the principle of equity in the relations between the collaborating countries", emphasizes Dr. Monge.
The work, sponsored by IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) proposes that universities and research centers in developed countries increase their dedication to the study of neglected diseases: "The involvement of governments is also necessary, so that research and projects are the result of the partnership of all, including companies, universities and philanthropic institutions", concludes the director of the CIFA of the University of Navarra.
Precisely next week the School of Pharmacy organizes the I workshop on Neglected Diseases, aimed at students of Degree, Master's Degree and PIF with interest in this area.
