The Government of Navarra and the University of Navarra will promote energy efficiency in subsidized housing

Amelia Salanueva Murguialday, acting councilor of Housing and Territorial Planning, and president of committee de Administración de Viviendas de Navarra, S.A., and the President of the University of Navarra, Ángel J. Gómez-Montoro, have signed a agreement of partnership to promote innovation and research at subject for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in subsidized housing promoted by the regional government through VINSA.

The agreement, which will be in force for the next three years, will allow the department de Building to carry out, through SAVIArquitectura, a on 23 rental housing developments owned by VINSA. Specifically, a total of 704 homes will be analyzed, except for more recent developments. goal For each of them, the university team, made up of professors and researchers, will carry out an analysis with the aim of issuing a diagnosis that will allow, at a later stage, the renovation and rehabilitation of these apartments to achieve more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.

The public company Miyabi will also be involved in this analysis, which will mainly examine the aspects related to energy installations.

"This project will allow us to establish an action protocol from which we will be able to extract efficient environmental measures to apply to each building. To this end, we will have experimental equipment such as thermographic cameras, temperature and humidity probes, thermoflujometry tools, etc.," explained Ana Sánchez-Ostiz, a professor at School of Architecture who is participating in the project.

Respect for the environment

For her part, the Regional Minister, Amelia Salanueva, highlighted the efforts being made by the Government of Navarra "to promote the inclusion of energy elements in all homes, whether promoted by VINSA or by private developers, as contemplated in the Law on Urgent Measures".

He added that "the university breathes research, teaching and knowledge. From this perspective, it is a pleasure to be able to join forces to materialize in an ambitious project the necessary and enriching commitment of both institutions".

Also the President, Ángel J. Gómez-Montoro, said he "feels satisfied for being able to collaborate in a project to meet real needs of society, such as the improvement and care of the environment".

The event was attended by the General Manager of VINSA, Luis Cruchaga and, on behalf of the University of Navarra, the director of the School of Architecture (ETSAUN), Mariano González Presencio, the director of research and development, Fernando de la Puente and the Administrator, Igor Errasti, among others.

Also participating were members of the research SAVIArquitectura team, Ana Sánchez-Ostiz, Purificación González, Aurora Monge and Silvia Domingo.
