The government of cities; interculturalism and pluralism; social movements; public services in a context of population decrease; social exclusion; the role of the European Union; or security and geopolitics in a globalized world are some of the issues to be addressed in the III International congress "Philosophy and City". Organized by the University of Navarra and the association Philosophy and City, it will be held at the academic center from tomorrow, Wednesday 18, until Friday 20.

"The new models of citizenship that are emerging in the face of the risk of a possible collapse of civilization on a global scale is one of the most relevant current issues," explains Julia Urabayen, professor at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra and president of association Philosophy and City.

With this meeting, he points out, "we want to open a space for dialogue and thought multidisciplinary that goes beyond the mere verification of the crisis of the current model civilization, and contribute to the search for non-utopian alternatives that strengthen the safeguarding of citizens' rights, especially their right to equality in the face of the scarcity of strategic resources".

More than 30 experts

Thus, more than thirty experts will reflect on the limitations and challenges of the current citizenship model and its relationship with the social, legal, economic and political processes that have taken place since the beginning of globalization. Among others, Deborah Saunt, one of the founding directors of DSDHA (Deborah Saunt David Hill Architects) of London; Francisco Colom, professor of research of the Center for Human and Social Sciences of the committee Superior Center for Scientific Research (CSIC); and Paula Cristina Pereira, professor of department of Philosophy of the University of Porto and founder of Philosophy and Public Space International Network.
