The group of research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra held in Paris, together with the Sorbonne University, a meeting of the permanent seminar "Authority and Power in the Golden Age". Experts from these two institutions, as well as from the University of Oxford (UK) and the University of Münster (Germany) participated in the meeting .

This was the fourth meeting of this seminar which, under the direction of Professors Pierre Civil and Ignacio Arellano, was held at the Maison de la Recherche of the Sorbonne University.

The theme of the meeting was "The critique of power", addressed through the discussion of six plenary papers. Some twenty researchers from the four academic centers participated in colloquium, which was of a markedly international and interdisciplinary nature.

On behalf of the University of Navarra, GRISO professors and researchers Carlos Mata Induráin, who spoke on the critique of power in the burlesque comedies of the Golden Age, and Andrés Eichmann, who presented some cases of conflict between civil and religious power in colonial Bolivia, specifically in the city of Potosí.

Presentation of the volume 'Authority and Power'

In addition, the Parisian meeting was the framework for the presentation of the recently published volume Authority and Power in the Golden Age, which brings together the texts of the papers discussed at the three previous meetings, held in Pamplona, Oxford and Münster.

On the other hand, the meeting of work of the representatives of these centers, Pierre Civil (Sorbonne University), Edwin Williamson (University of Oxford), Christoph Strosetzki (University of Münster) and Carlos Mata (University of Navarra), served to outline the development of the future calls of this permanent seminar , which in 2010 will have new sessions in different European universities. Specifically, the next quotation will take place in spring at the University of Coimbra (Portugal).
