Mary and Joseph were also refugees
The Nativity Scene of the Schools Ecclesiastics
Christmas is here as it is another year, but this time we have put up the crib very early. November 29, the first Sunday of Advent, saw the table at entrance hall in the Ecclesiastical Schools building emptied of its usual decorations. In its place appeared a Google Maps panorama stretching from Nazareth to Bethlehem. It is 110 km. in a straight line. On the back of a donkey, Mary and Joseph travel the route in 26 days, the length of Advent.
But they don't do it alone. Thousands of followers "connect" every day to read the messages that Maria (@miryam_immi) sends. The Queen of Refugees knows very well what it is like to be homeless and to walk in search of a home. We pray to her for all those who will spend this Christmas far from their homes and in situations of need or loneliness.
This is the first tweet on Sunday, November 29.
They have even sent some photos.
They do not go alone; in addition to thousands of refugees, on the 8th they had a surprise:
The road is marked by milestones, which indicate to the Holy Family the kilometers that remain until they reach Bethlehem. And each one also bears the name of staff not professor who works at Schools Ecclesiastical: Teresa, Trinidad, Laura, Arantza, Monica, Maria Cristina, Alberto, Jose Luis, Javier, Eduardo...
José Luis Eraso, one of the janitors, and his wife, Vicen, have prepared a good welcome in the building to accommodate this long-awaited family of refugees.
The response has not been long in coming:
