Patricia Castrillo Sanz, a student at high school Monjardín high school in Pamplona, has won the regional round of theBiology Olympiad. The test, held at the School of Science at the University of Navarra on Saturday, February 13, 101 students from 22 schools in the region participated.

The second best result was for Ruth Rada Díaz, from IES Ribera del Arga (Peralta), and the third place went to María Garde Garcia, student of IES Padre Moret Irubide.

In addition, special mentions were awarded to the following students for their outstanding participation: Ángel Fernández Gil, Alejandro Monroy Ostivar, Nahia Pérez de Ciriza, Raúl Carrasco Echeverría, Rocío Armendáriz, María Chérrez Calvo, and Laura Bermúdez Ballesteros. submission will take place online on Wednesday, March 3, and will feature representatives from the School of Science the University of Navarra and thehigh school of Biologists of Navarra.

The schools and institutes participating in this regional phase were IES Padre Moret Irubide, Miravalles, Redin, Irabia, Izaga, Maristas, Nuestra Señora del Huerto, San Ignacio-Jesuitas, IES Basoko, IES Mendillorri, IES Iturrama, IES Marqués de Villena, IES Ribera del Arga, IES Zizur, IES Pablo Sarasate, IES Valle del Ebro, Liceo Monjardín, Sagrado Corazón, San Cernin, Jesuitinas, Luis Amigó and Teresianas.

The top three finishers will participate from March 11 to 14 in the national phase of the Biology Olympiad -organized by the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao- which will be held telematically in this edition. The students who obtain the four best positions in the national test will opt for the international test , which this year will take place in Lisbon (Portugal) from 18 to 25 July 2021. On the other hand, those who place 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in the national phase will be able to compete in the Iberoamerican Biology Olympiad, which will be held online during the first fortnight of September and will be hosted by Costa Rica.
