A project of research from the University of Navarra has contributed to business Aquilón CyL receiving the Cinco Días Business Innovation Awardaward . The project of the University of Navarra, graduate "Use of Brucella protein extracts for the diagnosis of animal brucellosis" has the participation of researchers Raquel Conde and Ignacio Moriyón, from department of Microbiology and Parasitology of the University of Navarra, and José María Blasco, from quotation of Aragón.

The project is based on an application of previous genetic and molecular research to avoid false positive reactions in animal brucellosis tests, a growing problem with a strong economic impact throughout the European Union.

The jury emphasized that Aquilón CyL's business project meets all the criteria set for this category, since it "arises and is developed in partnership with the university, is not only technical but has an application, manages to reduce the consumption of antibiotics in animals and, in addition, generates income".

The licence of the knowledge related to this project has been granted to business Aquilón to continue its development and exploitation in the market, thus fulfilling the purposes of both entities: on the part of Aquilón, to develop and commercialize products within the field of animal health and, on the part of the University of Navarra, to transfer the results of its research.
