Last Friday, November 13, the School of Architecture received the visit of the architect Carme Pinós to talk about her work and the way she has of seeing architecture; a vision that has been growing throughout her degree program.

Something essential in this trajectory has been the struggle to open a niche in a generation where women, both in the world of architecture and in others, were a minority. Little by little this has been changing and women have been introduced in architecture, becoming almost a majority.

According to Pinós,"the feminine vision of the world makes her relationship with reality different. For many years women have been listening and that capacity is reflected in architecture, although it must be made clear that the world needs both men and women".

Another noteworthy point in the words of Carme Pinós is her"obsession with making a city with architecture, that is, we must be aware of the need of human beings to relate to each other, to socialize and create an architecture at the service of coexistence, fostering relationships between people".

However, according to the architect, the previous idea must fight against the current status ."Before, people built to leave a heritage to their children, to create a reflection of society, but now architecture is seen as a commodity. A house is not built to develop social life, but is created as a business to make money."

Finally, the Catalan architect left a message of patience and perseverance in the face of the coming times. "The architect must be aware of the responsibility he has, in the future he will be in charge of building the area where society will develop. For this very reason, we must have the hope that one day it will be possible to do it, but in the meantime, we must fill ourselves with knowledge".
