The University, leader in teaching and learning according to the CYD Foundation's 2019 annual report

The Autonomous Community of Navarre has the best performance rate of Degree, as well as the highest percentage of international students and employment rate at Degree

The University of Navarra is a leader in teaching and learning, according to the annualreport of the CYD Foundation 2019, presented on December 17. This report analyzes the contribution of Spanish universities to development in several dimensions: teaching and learning, research, transfer of knowledge or employability. It is carried out by the Foundation knowledge and development and uses information from official sources and from the universities themselves, as well as the results of the CYD ranking that was released in June of this year.

At teachingthe report highlighted the performance of the University of Navarra, which has 8 of the 9 indicators evaluated in the group of high performing, together with the Autónoma de Madrid. The report also highlighted the international orientation of the University, which it considers one of the leading universities in Spain (with 6 of the 7 indicators in the group of high performing), together with the Autónoma de Barcelona, the Carlos III and the Ramón Llul. It also offers good results in the percentage of international professors, as it is among the only six universities with more than 7% of professors born outside Spain. 

CYD has also highlighted the contribution of the University of Navarra to the transfer of knowledge. Thus, it is relatively the largest contributor in terms of issue of publications cited in application patent documents (1.62% of the total) and is the third largest in Spain in absolute terms issue .

Navarra obtains the highest academic performance rate with 86.7%.

According to CYD, the performance rate The number of credits approved out of those enrolled in degrees at Degree in Navarra is the highest in Spain (86.7%), followed by Catalonia (84.8%) and the Valencian Community (82.2%). The Comunidad Foral stands out for its international orientation, being second in Spain after Catalonia, largely due to the number of foreign students studying in its classrooms (almost 18% of the total). According to report, "Navarra clearly stands out from the rest" in this aspect, and also in that the majority of international students have official enrollment at the university (they do not only come from exchange programs, such as Erasmus). 

The university system in Navarra also stands out for its good results in employment ratein both Master's Degree and Degree, according to CYD. In fact, it is first in this indicator in Degree, followed by Madrid, the Basque Country, Castilla y León, and La Rioja. issue Finally, the Navarre university system offers good results in research: it is second only to Madrid in terms of the number of publications in scientific journals according to the number of inhabitants ( issue ).

Challenges of the Spanish university system

The report highlights seven main challenges facing the Spanish university system in the near future: the progressive increase in the prominence of private universities; the overqualification of the university graduate ; the transfer deficit of the university research ; the increased relevance of sustainability; greater gender equality; the need for improved funding by the administrations; and, finally, progress in the internationalization of university activity.
