84 students measure their knowledge at the University in the regional phase of the Biology Olympics

The winners are the second year students of high school diploma Alberto Pezonaga, Paula Mª Domench and Jorge Tarancón.

84 students from first and second year of high school diploma have measured their knowledge of science in the regional phase of the XI Biology Olympiad, held at the University of Navarra. The winners were Alberto Pezonaga -from high school Monjardín-, Paula Mª Domench -from Miravalles-El Redín- and Jorge Tarancón -from IES Pedro de Ursúa-.

The participants belonged to 21 schools from all over the region: I.E.S Navarro Villoslada, I.E.S. place de la Cruz, IES Benjamín de Tudela, IES Ibaialde, Miravalles, Carmelitas Vedruna, high school Luis Amigó, Nuestra Señora del Huerto, Padres Reparadores, San Cernin, Jesuitas, El Redín, IES Marqués de Villena, IES Padre Moret-Irubide, IES Pedro de Ursúa, IES Ribera el Arga, IES Sancho III El Mayor, high school de Lecároz, Irabia, Liceo Monjardín and Maristas.

After the test, the students attended a talk on the relationship between humans and the environment, at position by ecologist and professor Jordi Puig. The teachers and parents who accompanied the participants were also able to visit the Science Museum of the academic center and the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA).

On March 2, prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers and the special accredited specialization for those who placed between 4th and 9th place. The quotation will take place at classroom 5 of the Edificio de Castaños of the University of Navarra at 5 pm.

The top three will compete in the national phase of the Olympiad, which will be held in Vigo from April 7 to 10 and whose registration can already be made on the website of the Spanish Biology Olympiad.
