María Jesús Pumar is a professor of the Program in management of Nursing in Health Organizations and will teach the subject The nursing role and the management where you will acquire theoretical and philosophical knowledge about the Science of Nursing and the theories of management and administration, which will allow you to lead the management health .

How important is a nurse manager in the healthcare organization?
The evidence is conclusive: Nursing care has a strong impact on the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities. In addition, they contribute to making healthcare organizations more efficient and, therefore, sustainable. The nurse manager, by incorporating the care perspective into the planning, organization, assessment and management of organizations, enables the adequacy of the contexts and resources necessary for the production of nursing care. In this way, nurse managers play a fundamental role in achieving quality, safety and humanization of care and health services.

What are the new demands for a healthcare professional dedicated to management?
The new demands are multiple, but if I had to highlight some, I would point out: first of all the ability to project the future of organizations and provide medium and long term vision deadline. Also, the creativity and management of evidence and of data of multiple origin to offer new solutions, consistent with people's values. Finally, the art of leading from a broad, participative, humanistic perspective and focused on achieving excellent care.

Why is there a need for a specific training at management healthcare?
Health managers face such complex challenges as achieving greater integration of health and social issues, improving the continuity of care processes, making person-centered care a reality, or improving the processes and outcomes of assessment of health technologies. Facing these challenges, in addition to clinical knowledge , requires a deep understanding of the complexity of healthcare business and the systems it relates to, strategic vision and skills to work "with" and "through" people.
