A professor from the University participates in the Gourmet Mountain-Mendialdeko Mountain
Its activities seek commitment to local products as a hallmark of identity
Last week took place in the Monastery of San Salvador de Leyre, the first event of the "Gourmet Mountain-Mendialdeko".Gourmet Mountain-Mendialdeko" goal was twofold: to present a selection of the most select products of the Mountain to the hotel and catering sector, and to promote and generate alliances between professionals.
Also present were Juan José Pons Izquierdo Associate Professor of the department of Geography of the University of Navarrawho in a brief but intense exhibition analyzed the Mountain of Navarre integrating some of the elements that make it unique: identity, landscape and agri-food. He added new perspectives to the analysis, such as the tourist potential of the products as ambassadors of the Mountain, as well as the agri-food companies that open their doors to show their processes, their unique way of life and, above all, their differentiating know-how.
In addition, the mayor of Yesa, Roberto Martínez Luyando, also intervened, highlighting the need for these actions subject , which serve to promote companies and generate content to the people of the Mountain.
Jesús María Echeverría Azcona, director General Manager of INTIA, highlighted the diversity of high quality products in the Mountain of Navarra and the importance of efforts and actions such as Montaña Gourmet to make them known and improve marketing channels.
Isabel Elizalde Arretxea, director General Manager of the association Cederna Garalur presented the Itera-AA Program for Rural Innovation and Food in the Mountain of Navarra, which frames this action. A European project based on international cooperation to achieve the local alliance of companies, the promotion of local consumption, quality diversification, innovation in production and marketing from new methods of participation and cooperation; all this, with the final goal to achieve, together, the development of the Mountain of Navarre.
All agreed to encourage those present to consume and commit to local products, not only as an act, but as a sign of identity.
Montaña Gourmet-Mendialdeko Gourmet is an action developed by Cederna Garalur in the project ITERA-AA, Rural Innovation and Food, funded by the program Interreg IVB SUDOE.
