The laboratory of Food and Water Microbiology of the University of Navarra has renewed its accreditation as "laboratory of essay for the performance of microbiological analysis in food and water". This is a recognition granted by the National Entity of accreditation and identifies those with the highest reliability in their services, favoring the implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement systems.
The laboratory of Food and Water Microbiology of the University of Navarra works under the System of Quality management at research (SGCI), a system designed and maintained by the Quality Assurance Unit of the academic center, which in turn depends on Office of the Vice President for Research and Research Management Service. The laboratory together with the UGC successfully passed the renewal audit recently carried out by ENAC of agreement to the rule ISO/IEC 17025 for laboratories of essay, which, like ISO/IEC 15189 that applies to clinical laboratories, establishes both the technical requirements and management that a laboratory must comply with in order to be accredited.
The process of accreditation involves an exhaustiveassessment of the requirements of management and technical laboratory as if it has staff qualified, the necessary equipment and infrastructures, if it applies methods and procedures of work validated and appropriate and if it ensures the traceability of measurements and calibrations. In other words, it means formal and public recognition of the technical skill . For this reason, more and more clients are requesting services from centers that have obtained this ENAC recognition.
