Professionals from business and universities present trends in nutrition and pharmacy.

The School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra offers every Friday a series of seminars where experts from different countries and fields, mainly nutrition and pharmacy, share with the students their particular vision on the new trends in their field area. The seminars are part of the subject 'International trends in pharmaceutical and nutritional sciences', included in the program professor of the international diplomas.

In this context, last week Dr. Tatiana Christides, senior Lecturer School of Science and Programme Leader of Human Nutrition, BSc Hons. of the University of Greenwich (UK), an institution with which the center has maintained a student exchange agreement since 2011, visited the School . During her stay in Navarra, Dr. Christides gave several sessions on her specialization program, Nutritional Anemias, to the students of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and to the students of the international diplomas she showed them the role of the researcher and the nutritionist within the health system of the United Kingdom.

Pedro González Muniesa, coordinator of the International Office of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and manager of the subject, explains that "the purpose of the same is twofold: on the one hand, that students become familiar with the language and with the idea of developing their profession abroad and, on the other hand, that they know the different possibilities offered by both Degrees here in Spain and outside our country".

World-class guests
In addition to Dr. Tatiana Christides, it is expected to participate in the subject as guest speakers alumni of the University of Navarra and professors from other universities, companies and institutions belonging to professional areas in which graduates of Pharmacy or Human Nutrition and Dietetics can work. They develop or have developed their work in countries such as China, Belgium, Greece, Italy, United Kingdom, USA, Australia, Argentina, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, Chile or France.

Some of the companies are: committee European Food Information Center (EUFIC), GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Zoetis, Harvard University, World Health Organization or Cambridge University.

The areas to be addressed each Friday, either in person or by videoconference, include: hospital pharmacy, public health, innovation and development, teachingfood legislation, basicresearch at the university, research at business, sports nutrition at business, radiopharmacy and programs of study international. In particular, one of the online seminars will be held with Professor Paul Trayhurn, Dean of research at the University of Buckingham (UK).
