In the meeting several topics were discussed: the future development of the organization; the participation in the next congress of CERCLES (European Confederation of Centers for Languages in Higher teaching ) to be held in Paris; the development of the different work groups established at the last ACLES congress in Barcelona; the organization of the second national congress ; and possible collaborations with other international work groups.

Regarding the status of language teaching in Spain, Paul Miller pointed out that it is very heterogeneous: "Some universities do not have their own language centers or they exist, but they have to operate in rather precarious circumstances; in others, it is not possible for the student to obtain credits through language study; and in others, credits are obtained, but both the final level required and the issue of credits granted vary substantially depending on the center. In some," he added, "credits are only available for language study in general and there are no courses specially designed for students of a particular degree program .
